Default How to switch off the automatic climate control on the e60 from the idrive?

Hi, does someone knows how to switch permanently off the automatic climate control when turning on the ignition instead off switching off all the time when turning ignition on??? My car is e60 520d y.o.m 2007 msport with the small idrive screen(basic one)... Sorry for posting this thread but its my second week owning this car and can't find how to completely switch it off.... Thanks

I'll love to know so as well. I dislike the fact every time I turn my 525xi ON and i have to physically turn OFF the climate control.

I think t can be done with coding but it's not something you can do on your own. The only way to switch it completely off is to do it manually.. each time.

Just this past week, I brought my 528 in for some warranty work and I asked the same question. The service tech that went with me on a test drive told me that's the way it suppost to work. I wish there was a way to turn the radio/audio off as well instead of just muting it.

The 2011 328 that they gave me as a loaner (no iDrive), I was able to turn off the climate control and not have it turn back on when I started the car. You could also turn off the audio system.

On mine, if I turn off the AC - by pushing the snow flake then turn the car off, the AC remains off when I re-start the car and remains off until I turn it back on.

Really!?!?!? I need to give this a try over the weekend. I will be happy if that's the case for me; as long I don't have the AC compressor working automatically.

The only reason I can think of to turn off climate control & / or AC is if you're driving with the windows or sunroof open. Normally the AC does more than just "cooling" the cabin air - it also controls humidity (that can reduce window fogging on cool humid days and even inside window frosting on sub-freezing days/nights). And, because these new systems are considerable more energy efficient than in the "old days" I can't imagine gaining more than one mpg during normal driving to shut things down.

+1 Luigi. I don't often turn it off. WIndows down or roof open is one reason. Often in the winter time I do happen to leave it off that is if not needed for clearing the fog that will sometimes be there.

Pushing the knob in on my 535i shuts the radio off.
