how to register battery in INPA?
I've spent hours and hours installing INPA, DIS, BMWSSS according to instructions, can't connect through DIS due to some diagnostic head error. Ran through instructions back and forth many times to make sure I've installed everything correctly. My car is not communicating with DIS.
It seems to communicate with INPA, but going through all of the menus for my 04 E60, I can't come across anything having to do with the battery. I've searched around and didn't find answers.
Has anyone done it through INPA?

From the menu screen select E60, Engine, MSD80 (for 535i ECU), Then F5 = Status, Then F5 = IBS, then F5 again = Battery registration
Other ECUs might be different
The EDIABAS Server needs to be running also

Hey brother, where did you get your copy of INPA etc? I've been looking for quite a while now and searching the forums, but can't come accross a full copy of it! Thanks

Thanks for quick and detailed reply.
I did exactly that, except I believe I have an M54 engine (June 2004 production), so I selected MS 45.0 for M54, then went through F5 several times. When I press F5 to register the battery, immediately a pop-up screen comes up "Batteritausch B_fabttreg". then a yellow triangle exclamation mark inside with "OKAY". No waiting for processing, nothing, just like that, immediately. I wonder if it really reset my battery, if there is a way to check it, through history or something. I mean, I would think INPA would take a reading or something, I mean, I expected some kind of delay rather than an instant "OK".

Check the following:
Read your CAS module with NCS expert, see what KLASSE_BATTERIE is set to. e.g. 70ah, if your new battery matches then you are good, if not change it to what the new battery is or the next closest in line. eg if there isn't a setting for 72ah so 70ah should be close enough.
Here is an alternate solution:
Open up Tool32
1. Open MSD80.prg or what is appropriate for your engine
(May alternatively be under MSV70 or MSV80.prg)
2. Look up steuern_batterietausch_registri. (near bottom of job list)
3. Go to Jobs menu
4. Select Run Job

thank you for the great info. This was the most simple and easy to use instructions (INPA method...) I have seen for battery registration (identical battery replacement)...thx! worked very well for me 2007 E60 5-series (MSV70 / N52 engine).
The toolkit32 instruction was simple as well - but the job menu didn't have a simple run option, it had start job one time only and a few others and I thought that the start job one time only was the closest to "run job" instruction required here.
thanks
