I normally use it for slowing down (no braking = cleaner wheels ) and on the motorway to keep the gear.

The diesel has lots of torque, so when cruising on the motorway its nice to use the torque to accelerate, instead of letting the auto change down and get the engining revving higher. In combination with the Sprint Booster, the auto has a habit of changing down quite often on the motorway. So the manual mode is definitely the way forward if you want to press on, without having gear changes the whole time.

Obviously when driving in a "spirited manner", e.g. on winding roads, its a great fun to work the gears, especially as the LCI auto reacts pretty quickly in manual mode

Is it bad for the engine/trans when you shift Manually shift at high rpm's? I like to accelerate rather quickly an I like to hear the engine so when I start from a light I start in 1st gear and let it rev to 5000 and then shift. Does this harm the transmission?

your transmission can more than handle anything you throw at it, but dont forget the transmition is "self learning" so it will adapt to your driving style.

+1.

I also manual shift, when driving in snow. There's better control that way.

Voted. I dont use it to much. Definetly if the roads are more curvy just to have a little fun is when I usually do.

There's a reason why I bought a steptranny. I'd buy a manual tranny if I want to drive in manual all the time.
And did I mention my wife doesn't know how to drive a stick shift (don't go there )
