How many americans are considering the 535d for next yr?
I like getting the new body style early in the game. This keeps the fresh look for the next 6/7 years, always appearing new and getting most of the new innovations as well. I drive over 30,000 miles per year normally, so the fuel savings on that much milage will be considerable with diesel.I keep remembering how I got 40 miles/gallon in Europe over 2,000 miles of driving on my rented 320d. That versus my getting about 19 miles/gallon on my current 545ia.That's good on my wallet and good for the reduction (my little part) of oil usage in the US. If everyone would go that route think of how much less oil we would import.
Now I have to figure a way to reduce the miles I put on my 545ia so it isn't worthless by 2009/10 when it comes time to trade it in so I can afford to spring for the F10 diesel.

My next car won't be a diesel, as I'll get it too soon, but I'll take advantage of a diesel option when its time to replace my wife's X3. in about 2 years. The extra torque and fuel economy would be welcome.

I might consider it, but not sure if it'd be available in California due to emission restriction.

I would consider a diesel only if diesel prices would go down.

Mercedes, Volkwagen have diesel cars in US,
Are they popular compared to petrol cars in the same model ?
Do they sell more than petrol brothers/sisters? Are customers happy with Diesl MB/VW?
It depends how the people compare diesel and petrol and may want to wait one year and see how the diesel performance.
I read some Gas companies(kwik trip/kwik star-TOP TIER) has come up with the cleanest diesel comparable to euro stds.
