I would seriously consider it when my 530i lease is up in 1.5 years. At this point though, I haven't seen any sort of specifics out of BMW NA, other that they plan on bringing a diesel to our market in the next couple of years.

I would definitely look at it. Have not followed the planned intro of diesels by BMW, have they said the 535d is coming for sure?

I guess for you guys diesels are a big unknown. Very few have ever driven them so it will take a long time for the word to spread of how good they are. Also, I think fuel economy is still not a motivating factor enough as most 5 series guys are fairly well off. So the only remaining motivation is the low-down Torque.

I know some europeans would choose a 535d over a 535i. especially after for the purpose of chipping it to 350HP and 680NM

Just in time for it to be superseded by the F10.

the F10 is still a good 2-3 yrs away. enought time to understand the current 535d and get ready for the new f10 535d with 300+ HP as standard

And the US 535d is a good 1-2 years away.

See the point?

Yes i see your point. Well, even though less 5 series will be sold in its last yr, there are still a lot of people buying. strange but true. Usually guys whose lease expires.

I hope they will choose more fuel efficient cars since they are the world nr 2 in co2 pollution
More taxes on heavy drinking cars could also be a sollution.

I'm paying $153000 for my 530xd sedan and no one in this forum have paid more for the 530, or?
