In the States, do you have extended warranty as an option?

New car every couple years, that's the goal.
Another BMW, most likely.

Bought the 545i - will keep it until next generation 5.

Don't expect any problems other than regular scheduled maintenance...just like all my other BMW's.

To many electronics to drive it past 4 years or 50,000 miles, IMHO.

This statement goes for almost all cars these days right. Everyone has a lot of electronics, and even the cars from the 90's had more than you would like to believe, but I understand where you are coming from. Only thing is, from this day forward...no car will be safe to keep. I'm going to have to take my chances!

My BMW warrenty is for 4/50,000 w/ full maintenance. I just got off the phone with my credit union and they quoted $3,156 for a 0 deductable 6/100,000. I can get that rate up to 12,000 miles on my 6er. I will watch my reliability versus fun ratio closely and if I think it too fun to get rid of in 4 years may go for extended coverage. But I think doing the next one (650, 660, M6 - who knows in 4 years) is even better option.

One of the reasons I bought another BMW is for the reliability. I had a '98 528 that my wife drives now. It looks and runs like new. If she hadn't decided she wanted it, I probably would still be driving it. I think BMW's are good for 200-300K miles and I intend to maintain them well and expect it will be worth it to do so.

Your credit union offers full maintenance and extended warranty or limited?

On the otherside, isn't part of the fun being able to get a new ride every few years?

The credit union was the Extended Warranty only, no "full maintenance'. They, like dealers, push these extended warranties as a money maker for them. I would normally automatically blow them off. However, with the buggy software and upgrade environment we are now in it may pay to just take a deeper look if I really wanted to keep a vehicle more than the standard warranty.

Your right, the fun is in the new ride, although I have not been able to practice that too much in the past. Now it is a different matter. If I play my cards right maybe my wife won't notice if I slip in an M6 in place of the 645, as long as the color is close
