Hello all,

I just want to get a feel from BMW owners of the new 5. Are you planning to keep this car for some time, or it is 3 and how (or however long your lease is). I believe we have a mix of both here, but I'm not sure. Everywhere you read these days, it will say if you like driving fun get the BMW (no exceptions here so far), but if you plan to keep the car, get a Lexus or something "more reliable". Either way, the car I drive has to excite me, and so far, nothing has like the 5. Please give your opinions/thoughts on keeping the car long term because that is the predicament that I am in...I will need this car to last me for at least 8 years!

What do you think

To many electronics to drive it past 4 years or 50,000 miles, IMHO.

I have leased for three years and will make a decision at that time. The times may be different, however, my previous car, a 1995 325i, was initually a lease for three years. At the end of the lease I purchased the 3 series and eventually used it for my trade in for my 5 back in December. So I ended up keeping the 325i for ten years and even at the end it was the best driving car I ever owned up to that point.

I plan on driving the car during the lease period of 3-4 years (depending whenever I hit the mileage) and then have it replaced by another BMW. When the price is right at the end of the lease, I will definately consider buying the car from the leasecompany.

I bought mine and hope to keep it a long time, but given the issues reported for the model in general, none of which I've really experienced personally, I will rewiew those plans as the end of of the warranty approaches...

I agree! Don't want to get stuck with 5 passed warranty.
