I can go anytime I want as long as I make sure that my work/job is done as expected.
There are some bosses who are clock watcher. To be honest, they're dumb because an employee can sit in his/her cubicle from 7am to 7pm and still be non-productive, and the guy/gal who comes in 10am and leave at 5pm completes all the work beating the schedule.

Can't you just say you had car trouble and had to drop it off for service?

Take it in early! My servicing dealer is open at 6:30. Either that or find someone that has week days off and have them take it in for you.

When going to the stealer, what do you guys tell work? It's not like you're sick and can claim sick hours (although I consider my baby "immediate family" ).
"I'll be a few minutes late, until the dealer's service shuttle gets me here." I ride back with colleague who lives a few miles away.

I've "waited" for service, once, when my E39 wiper arm broke loose in a snow storm. They took me right in and untangled the twisted tangled mess, installed new arm and got me on the road in about 40 minutes. Didn't even get to watch the thrilling conclusion of the Today Show.

Hmmmm. Let's see.....
I convinced my boss to get a 530i (E39), 4 of my direct reports drive BMWs, and my admin drives a 325i...

*We* all purchased our cars at the same dealer. We have access to each other's Outlook calendar. My timeslot on the OutLook calendar will simply show, "Bringing in the Mach 5 for service".

Works the same way at my company, thought I don't own it!

Yes. the car arrived today. I am out of town until probably Wednesday night. Will pick it up Thursday hopefully. Waiting on a report from my wife as to how it looks...how many miles on it...whatever report I can get.

They'll send my contact person from the dealer to my company, they pick the car up and leave a loaner if neccesary. As easy as that, same goes for bringing it back offcourse

I call up my dealer.

Tell him what needs to be done.

He makes appointment.

Drive in to dealership the morning of the scheduled appointment.

Drop off the baby, ahem, I mean the car.

Drive off in the BMW loaner (usu. an X3 or a E46)

Dealer calls when car is finished.

Pick up car.
