How do other people look at your E60
#11
A friend at work spotted a 545 ahead in traffic, he called me on the cell as he chased him and caught up with the guy at a gas station. He asked him how he liked it and the guy was very unfriendly. So he had to go in and buy something so it didn't look like he was just stopping to ask him questions. My buddy drives an E430 Sport and he is almost more excited about my car than I am. I can't wait to get it. You don't see too many around Massachusetts.

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
I don't know about MA, I am usually very friendly to other enthusiast regardless of what they drive, but here in NY if you notice someone following you a little while and then pull off to start a conversation you might think "car jack".
Before my car came in I saw a 545 with the red rear reflectors at an Eckerd Drugs store parking lot. At first he was summing me up and then got more relaxed.

I was surprised also, he said he was a young kid and it was probably his father's car. It was an automatic with no Sport Package. Who knows

I get it a lot, I was asked about it a couple of times on traffic lights. Not to mention the bunch of kids that surrounded my car one day as I parked it by a running trail to go jogging. As soon as I approached the parking lot they surrounded my car with their bicycles and skate boards, I just couldn't leave it there for them to touch it and scratch it. So I had to find a further spot to park where it was hidden.
I sometimes park it and come back to find oil stains on the windows from people who put their hands on it to peak inside, it is annoying but I don't blame them. I would have done the same for an E60.
I mentioned this in a different post, but E39 owners seem to be very interested in looking at the car. And yes, they don't want to show it. I catch them checking the car out in mirrors and on traffic lights, therefore I always stay in their blind spot to drive them crazy

Got to say that most people will view my E60 as a Sapphire black blur closing on them quickly from behind, overtaking swiftly, then disappearing fast into the distance. That's the BMW diesel torque effect for you!

i don't see too many e60 here in hawaii but i do see a lot of e-class and other mercedes. we have a lot of asians here and that explains why. i always want to talk about the car with other e60 owners but every time i see one is when i'm driving. i might need to park in the dealer's parking lot in order to talk to someone <_<. oh, well, the person might not be as friendly as the people in this forum...who knows .
