How do i remove the gearstick?

If its the shift knob you are talking about and not the entire shifter assembly, then yes, you simply pull it up. Hard! Just be sure to not knock out any teeth or hit yourself somewhere else (yes, seriously). Other than that, there's no trick - just good ol' muscle work

PS And DO NOT twist the knob at all. Just pull it straight up.
