How do I know if my car is fitted with a diesel particle filter ?

Well after a certain update ( I THINK it was sometime in 2004 or at most 2005), all diesels got the Euro 4 emission standards and straight exhaust pipes (like on petrol models). I have a 9/03 530d and it has the diesel (bent-down) pipes. An easy way to check.....give it full throttle and if you see a small cloud of smoke behind you, you don't have one :-)

Look in your Service menu in the iDrive and you should see the Particulate filter reading there if you have one.
