To answer your main question about how you know if a RF has a puncture...

You will notice a marked improvement in ride comfort from the corner of the car which has the flat.

Before I picked up my car a few weeks back, I was really worried about the stock run flats, which are the Dunlops 17in.

Seems to drive fine to me and there is no noise to speak of.

The grea thing was when I got a Flat tire last week. The Flat tyre light came on immediately. I kept driving at about 70km/h until I got to the off ramp which was very very close and I was so glad that I had runflats because I could still keep driving to the tire changer! I got off the highway, right there was a tire change place. I did the walk around the car and though the computer must be lying as I could not tell which tire was flat. The tire guy plugged the guage and he saw 40psi, 40psi, 20psi..opps must be this one. He plugged it, I gave him about US$6 and I was on my way.

I love runflats as I don't like to change tires and I could keep driving until I got to a tire plugging place which is just about every 3 km in Taiwan. Then I just reset the tire pressure monitoring in the I-Drive and the light went off.
