What is advanced A/C?
In the UK and Europe, there are two types of air conditioning systems, Basic and Advanced.

To the best of my knowledge, only the advanced version is available in the US.

This thread contains details of the differences.

For some strange reason, the additional OBC functions I outlined in my previous post are related to the advanced A/C in some way.

My German spec 545iA (born May 10, 2004) came with it. No software update made yet...

Anyone else still on version 11.x that can shed some light? JDN? Lomag?

I'm wondering if it's one of those "nav" things where if you have nav pro, you have a bunch of other unrelated stuff...

I still am running on ver 11.3 and do not have the hourly chime on this car. I miss it because I used to rely on that to remind me of the hourly news. However, I'm not having any problems that would cause me to ask for a sw update yet.

JDN, are you sure you don't have it? You know our cars are brothers and I had it on my version 11. I can't figure out why you wouldn't have it as well since our options are almost identical.

Did you look at the pages in the manual I referenced in my earlier post to see where to set it?

No, I didn't, Rudy, but when I did, and checked the car, I found you to be right. No big surprise there. I guess I haven't been back to set the time since 4/10/04. I don't understand why I did not choose the chime on the first set up. Be that as it may, didn't the 540 have a choice for 3 minutes before the hour?

Well there you go then! It'll be nice to see if there are any non-nav, version 11.x cars out there to confirm if this is just a change in location/interface and not an added feature (my current theory).

The chime on the E39 went off 15 seconds before the hour. The whole purpose/design of this feature is to give you enough advance warning to tune your radio to a news station to get the news at the top of the hour.

The E60 chimes about 3 seconds before the hour with the final chime right on the hour.

JDN, now that you've activated this, I'm thinking you might be ready for version 12! The volume of the chime in version 11 is way too loud and fixed in version 12...

I want the version that has more HUD options. I liked Iceman's screen. He has the Active Radar display. That tells me that there is at least room for one more goodie.

Has anyone seen if it is a key memory preference? I would like it, but my husband would hate it. Can key one have the chime on, and key two have no chime? Or is it like iDrive brightness and the same no matter which key?
