looks good in the flesh, who designed the Rx8??? it looks like a Korean car, apart from some neat touches, it has no soul
and looks dated compared to the Rx7.
friends all around the world, yes, as you grow older and do intl' biz you get a bigger network, not a big deal in this day and age, it was 20years ago though.

you can use them as long as they are not jammers.
i used to have 1 but dont use them any more cos I know most of the fix cam in HK and know what time they come out about.
+ they always update there software and the old Radar Detector dont work, so you need to get new 1s every year
I know many people work in the polic force and they say then dont stop people useing them, a wast of time and itis good to use them too cos people slow down

how any bands are there? can they come out with a new band every year? I doubt it,
+/- a couple of new cameras
X50 passport- at the end of the day
the laser detector function has saved my arse at least 8 times
picking up the mobile guns and the laser of the unmarked cars, its most active near the Kwai Chung terminal road,
and it beeps reminder as I drive from HK South to NT North which is a long journey, don't forget i only have a few points left so any warning=better than no warning

So guys, which is the best rador detector available in the market?

I get caught a year ago doing 94km/h in 50km/h zone, fortunately i got a UK license and paid only 600HKD fine and no point deducted. (Cos they can't )
(I don't mean to speeding i have to say, but i was in hurry and cheaky hk police hided in first 50 zone pole (The road was 70km/h change to 50km/h, so 94km/h wasn't that bad i felt guilty tho and not dare to excess the limit since then)

Just one more Q., i heard somebody said police only need 2 secs to detect your speed and by that time even your detector warned you, u will get caught cos u wont have time to react and speed the car down. So is it really worth to get one? And i know they are not cheap!

Cheers
Keith

if you dont know HK road that well I would get 1.
for me I have been driving in HK for 10 years now and know most of the road in HK. well all the racing roads
some time speeding is OK BUT only do it on open road in the mornings (2am) where you will not kill some 1 or make some 1 killed. Like the taxi and cab drivers. They are theboyracing drivers in the day

i had to answer your comments
what model do you have? what is the range? it must be outdated and not worthy of mention, because in the real world 2007
using a radar detector is to get an early warning, a camera 700-500m ahead will send bounces and reflections everywhere,
and mine detects it so you slow down a bit.eg.112kmh, then you slow down to 100 quickly, you only get points taken off over 15kmh above the limit.
mine picks up X and KA bands on every drive , a few moments before a fixed one, NOT all the speed cmeras in HK are digital, whoever told you should be shot,
if digital using piezo sensors on the ground then you don't get a warning,or maybe even a flash but you can spot the loops on the ground in advance on regular scouting drives. If the camera has nothing inside it, I don't receive a warning, but several days later if they inserted one, it will cause a warning.
There are 2 cameras side by side on the S bound Pokfulam rd,out side YCK school one is orange and the other small/digital?you can use that as a test, in a normal Friday night it flashes 15- 27 times when it is activated(speed limit is 50 S Bound down the steep hill)
You can't know which camera has an active camera in it by memory, or know by esp if there is a laser gun up ahead
or if you're been followed by an unmarked police car with laser on? even the BMW ones(they have a black 740i as well)? keep it real mate.

My Neighbours 996 turbo also uses an X50, he swears by it, i know there is an upgraded one now with ku and gps.
if the new ku gets used more in HK I will upgade to a new one, but as you can see 2700bucks per 1or1.5years is a small price to pay for someone who has only a few points left every point counts.
