My M5 came last year. Had a few "red cog" SMG transmission failure alerts, the first being 3 days after delivery, and the most recent on saturday.
But so far "touchwood" the msgs goes away after restarting the car.

Gear changes is quite unnerving due to SMGs characteristics. Despite what ppl say about driving techniques, passengers still feel the jolt between 1st and 2nd gear change.

Original 19" rims were quite hard on the ride quality. After changing to 20", the ride is much softer. My wife and mother in-law actually likes the car now.

But for performance, one word "amazing". With the M button on "DAMN"! Although sometimes i wish the car had more torque for Hong Kong island driving.

Just a quick pic I took on the weekend. Will get some better shots later.
very nice
jolt between 1st and 2nd gear change, this sound just like my smart42.
that the fun in it, if ppl what a smooth ride dont get BMW get MB

Very nice indeed!!

i bet u got a better ride with the non-runflat tyres right? i changed mind to 19" with non-runflat and the ride is much better than my ex 17" with runflat! Hate runflat!

And i like the colour as well, always prefer white or black colour car! So jealous now!

And the torque should be "alright" if you keep it in high rpm.....the reason for the low torque nature in low rpm is making the car more easier to live with. (Dont forget it is 507 bhp!!!)

Anyway thanks for the write up and really wish to meet you guys in the near future to share some comments or whatsoever!

BTW, i am going to the Merc world in brooksland (UK) to test drive the CLS 63 AMG, and will post some pics after! So exciting!

that the that bad side of it reving high to get the torque is what you dont need in HK inland, the F*uking HK goverment sound let us buy a BMW E60 535D
then U get all the torque you what in HK roads, just too many hills, not good for a sports car.
Need to run it in NT fast........................to keep the engine tip top
just like my S2000 need to rev it to 9500rpm then all power comes out.

high revving engine as pingu said ain't good for HK.

AMG cars are more suited for HK's roads, I wouldn't mind a 2nd hand CLS55 when their price comes down a bit for the wife.

With all the mountains and stop start traffic in HK, I think the best bday present to give someone are brake pads

yes I will miss it alot.
not matter how good the car is I will not get the same car again.
I like to drive diffrent car not the same (only counts for fun car not my main car like my e60)
I will 100% invest in the stock for a year and then get a mini S or a 500 or Z4, Have to see how much I make on the stocks.

was in my mate's 335 twin turbo diesel coupe, was strange, it had both exhausts on the left,in HK they are at both sides,
it sounded noisy at low speeds, lots of clatter, but from Lipstadt to cologne we hit 250 easy,
not stopping it, we killed a A4 unmarked but sounded like a big engine, like a knife thru butter

as you saw from the photo we topped 290km in the Maser, without much hassle.

sad thing the autobahn is now stuffed full of fast lane hoggers and cannot see a chance for >300km nowadays, had a
spin in my mate Mike's Carrera 4 (modified!) and couldn't move pass 290
