Hi everyone,

got a question for you all, does anyone know how to install Asian language set into your idrive? I have my car here in the US and do know how to code but can't for the life of me figure out how to install lets say Chinese or Japanese characters. Any insight would be most appreciated

thanks

Rab

you can not install your self, you need to ask your local dealer to upgrade the software to read chinese.

A new VO (vehicle order) is required to perform this i-drive language change. 7 series has multi-language as standard though.

Ping,

I know if I went to my dealership they would laugh at my face, but I do have access to all their tools. (one of my friends is a tech there and he isn't sure how to go about doing this, he can disassemble the entire car with his eyes closed but playing with the VO and specific code modification is way out of their run of the mill request).

Tomato,

I can modify the VO but what is it that I have to do? (is it changing the vehicle to think it is from another region?)

I think you will need a computer to overwrite the existing vehicle information to your car.
