Just to upgrade lights and utilize NCS expert as well as GT1 and PROGMAN.

that info has to come from BMW's computer, or do they have the full list of components to check???

those pricks can only do visuals like brembos, cf, tints, leds (hopefully anyway!)
what about M sport bumpers, can they detect that?
in the case of the "shark" he should just cut his vin# and stick it it on another car for his check,
it would take a week to take his mods off.................
changing car vin that a good idea.
There a guy fail for adding a boot spoiler so dont know about body kit.

what about the ricky m5 dash? will they know the difference in colour?

it is neigh on impossible for them to know all the parts list on every car for thousands of different cars,
for sure if they asked me about mine, i will say yeah amg rear lip spoiler bought from Speedline (AMG HK),
or u can say m TRUNK SPOILER from bmw accessories shop, yeah and lost the invoice......
is it illegal to buy and fit accesories from the dealers???? if so we can get a refund for any accessory bought as it is illegal to fit it.
apart from the obvious like hid, cf aerofoils, even cf pillar stickers, how could they know mark's M5 calipers? apart from been red, they are bmw and the inspection guy has to be pretty clever
and have time to take it apart to say it is an m5 part.
if they did compare every part it will take them 2 weeks to finish each car.

anyhow just trying to "brainwash" myself that my car would pass................

WARNING
a mechanic of my buddy just got out from 60days jail for putting on his car's #plate on the cars he was working on for entering his car park
and parking in his own parking space "under his registration plate#", he was caught on cctv and didn't make a not guilty plea.............
yes this was in HK.

U guys just have to spice up the forum for 2011, don't u? Probably the best to do is get some clarifications from dept of transport but I imagine any direct replacement parts that meet the original specs and road worthiness would be Ok.

replacement parts in the UK like alternators and locks are ok,
would they cause a prob here??

i heard that if u don't have a bridge for your brakes it is legal, so i reckon your bmw brakes are ok,
seeing as they sell them at the dealers anyway for retrofitting

they wouldnt, thats what I meant.

I was one of those poor students who had to take my car for mot myself, the test centers those days just check main items such as chasis: corrosion and leaks from shocks, worn bushes, main electrics: lights r bright enough and point at the right direction, horn and wipers are working, brakes are strong enough. frankly I am surprised to hear mot in hk is so much stricter.
