i started off on a 1989 CBR 250 single R. 250cc is mandatory in australia until we get our full license.

One thing that i have not gotten use to is riding on hills and slopes. There are basically no slopes in Austraila, whereas HK island is slope after slope after slope. I'm 73kg 5'8" and have a hard time reaching the floor on the R6. The seating position is taller than a CBR1000. I;ve had it since 2 weeks ago, but everyday has been raining!! sometimes i wish i had my cbr with me.

I would suggest getting a smaller used bike then progress onto a larger capacity bike later on. At least when you drop it you it doesnt ache as much.

It doesn't matter if it's not "cool" to drive a 250cc, but at least it's gonna save your life later on.
So you just came back from Australia right? The CBR is your ride in Australia I assume.

But the R6 seat can't be adjusted? It does looks high from the rear, way higher than a CBR.

I learn to ride in HK, I have a chance to do it in Canada before I leave but I am thinking is too easy in Canada to get a bike license cause they don't even do the slope test. I see these people riding CBR 1000 in Canada and virtually nothing under 600cc over there, crazy stuff.

Of course I will not buy anything above 250 for the moment as you (or anyone) suggested that you should start off in something lighter and less powerful, gain some experience first than move onto bigger stuff.

I am still looking at the market for maybe a used 250 either VTR or Hornet, wanted to buy CBR250 but the newest one right now on the market is 01 so pretty old for a racing bike and I don't want car trouble so still thinking now.

I've past that stage where I need to be cool so is alright if I can find a decent 250 bike, bike is so addictive and fun for the weekends so no scooter for me as it is not my main transport.

My autotoll is the thick one... ... too heavy and thick to stick behind the mirror...
Before I changed into my E60 I have the thick one on my E39 and I also stick it behind the mirror, you wouldn't notice anything really, but sometimes it have trouble being pick up by the tunnel company and a siren always sound when I go past some of the gate

When I checked the top 10 posters today, WilliamsF1, Lawrence, eR6c and me of course all make the top 10.

All for posting here, and they have me down for 67 post today, there must be a mistake I didn't post that much.

I came back two years ago from Australia. Yeah the CBR is my mistress there. Might visit her in October haha.
Dont worry about the bike being old. I haven't had any problems with my 1989 CBR! it's 17 years old!

I haven't done the slope test before in australia (non existent), as it's not necessary.. boy were they wrong. I hate slopes in hong kong! i damn hate them. Slopes in the apartment buildings arghhhhhhhh
I dropped the R6 on the second ride in the apartment garage slope. Had to stop start on the slope. boom down i went. Not much damage only a scratch on the bike. Im thinking of going to do the slope test now
I guess like australia/canada the world is flat.

oh yeah, you cant adjust the height of the seat for the R6
It's 1.5inch taller than previous model. I wish my parents gave me longer legs

No I have the thin one now, the thick one no problem (or maybe I ddin't realize it before).

Anyway once they run a check to see if you have register for autotoll they will deduct your account accordingly so I am not too worry about that.
