the reset procedure for the //m5 smg is different. don't know if it works on the non-m SMG, but:
get on a straight road, get to a constant speed between 20-90mph (i'd recommend more than 20 but less than 90...)
put trans in N
pull both steering wheel paddles towards you at the same time and hold for 2+ secs
I don't have an SMG so I don't know if it will work, but that's from the m5 board.
