If you do this reset, it doesnt erase the remap settings does it???

Anyone know 100% for sure?

Hi,

I think I have to also agree that my E60 auto shifting is more precise and smoother.

Sometimes when starting off, the auto trans seemed to be a little laggy, like it didn't know what gear to start off in. After the reset, it seems much smoother and crisp.

No, as said above, it even brings it to life more, as the shifting patterns are much more suited.

Work on my 05' 545 as well, especially the dreaded pause between pressing the throttle and actually moving forward. Great tips!! Thanks

I did it yesterday, and shifting seems defenetly better

I drive in very heavy and demanding trafic, so propably have to do the
"reset" quite often to ease up the box.

I did not have the "slam" before what people are talking, just some rough shifting sometimes.
Even not happy with it, I thought it is the way it should be. Now car seems smoother..

Anyway I have to wait to go out of this damn city, and go to summer vacation and drive some nice roads to know better -
7000 km Europian motorways and mountain roads ahead

Thanks for the information, this is a great forum! Allthough I think our dealers should tell us this kind of things

Ok, this is really strange guys - cause the BMW doc I read said that the trans adjusts to your driving style every time you drive (every time you accelerate to be exact!)- very strange.

Well was at bmw for service today and was flipping through the 07 5 series book they had and definetly confirmed the tranny does indeed adjust to your driving style-I know everyone knew this but never saw it in writing so makes me even more sure this reset obviously makes a huge idff

Some time ago, I read on one of these forums that our transmissions actually have six modes; a Sport and an Economy mode for each of the three modes (D, DS and manual) that we have. That official looking piece of paper also stated that based on how deep and how fast you press the accelerator during a given acceleration, the tranny will figure out whether you need Economy or Sport mode.
Anyways - a great tip!

So technically if you are driving fast and sporty in DS-you are in "sport sport" mode-haha-thats gotta hurt the mileage compared to "economy D mode" man these trannys are smart!
