And I assume this has no effect on the remap that I know a few of us have had here?

Actually it has, as it seems to bring it more to life due to the engine making much more use of the mapped parameters by holding gears better freeing what you have.

At least it did it for me. Even the missus asked what I had done to the car yesterday morning

It seems to me that with so many people having the same problem, BMW should provide a programming change that changes the shift points so that we don't experience the problem any more or have to use workarounds.

I complained to BMW service many times and eventually spoke to the factory rep who told me that these shift points are put in to save gas. He said to use the sports mode instead. Sports mode does do it, but I feel that I shouldn't have to go to sports mode for a smooth shifting car.

...the car seemed the same but the wife left and the dog died!

I guess there might be an element of snake oil but I'm certain it's holding the gears longer than it used too a lower throttle openings and revving far higher with higher openings... Shifts into 4th at approx 30mph if I'm feathering the throttle and holds on without shifting down to 3rd. (I have CIP24 which seemed to assist too) Seems to utilise that low-down torque even better!

Haha! Seriously I didn't notice any difference.
