Tried this last night on my "new to me" 2010 E61. I didn't hear the noise after 25/30 seconds, but wow what a difference with the shifts. I almost started a new topic on why the heck I couldn't pull away from a stoplight without the "lurch" that a previous poster mentioned. Stumbled across this topic and gave it a shot. The 1st to 2nd shift (and all others) are much smoother in stop/go traffic.

I am about to pull the trigger on the Cobb tune. Does anyone know how this trick might affect a "tuned" car?

Thanks All!

WOO! +1 for the forums! I've worked out 2 issues already! This one AND that active steering thing. Simple resets fixed them both!! Thanks guys!

Definitely had an impact in terms of driveability on my 2010 CPO 535i as well. However, my programmable memory buttons are now acting wonky after the reset. They are still programmed, but holding my finger over the key doesn't seem to display what it is anymore. It still functions if I push the button though. It may be unrelated to the reset, but I noticed it the same day, whereas it was working previously. Is this something I can fix, or do I need to visit the dealer?

The trans. does not hold a learned pattern from the first 1000 miles of driving. If you read BMW's own lit. you will see there are 2 maps for each mode of the trans. 2 for the economy mode and 2 for the sport mode, they are sport and extreme sport and economy and extreme economy, and it learns from your driving technique which mode to use based on your driving using accel and wheel angle sensing. But the thing is it starts over each time you restart the car, it does not save in memory from the first 1000 miles or even from yesterday. Hope this helps.

Tried this on my 2009 650i. Definitely works. I have been struggling the last one month I have owned this car with the 2 second lag and jerky acceleration - tried this and acceleration has been smooth and car starts moving without hessitation the last 1 day i have been driving. This is no placebo.
