I think it does work to reset the map learning, but it still only does so much, especially on the turbo E60s... All I know is I haven't had to mess with it since going the JB route on my 535i, and I couldn't be happier!

Nowadays I just go into INPA and choose to reset the adaptation values. That way I KNOW it's cleared lol.

My Ride: BMW 530i Factory Built AC Schnitzer

Hi guys...I'm in the UK and have an early e60 2004 530I FACTORY AC Schnitzer model. I did it this morning and it sure does work...I even think I heard a click after 25 secs.
The pick up and change from 1st to 2nd is sharper and considering the car was not used for the last 3 days it sure felt more alive than normal.
For those in doubt I would try it as you have nothing to lose. However you have to be mindful that sometimes these things can be all in the mind and you fall into the trap of thinking its better when it is the same! lol
Thanks

I tried this on my E60 530i, it became live-lier. But after few days, I am feeling that my car has become a little hesitant before upping the revs, even though I am pushing the gas peddal down. I dont remember this behaviour previously.
Any ideas ?

I had a nasty kick when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, that I believe started happening after a software upgrade on the car. Tried the 25s trick several times - no difference whatsoever. Did the transmission adaptation reset from INPA (literally takes 1 second) and voila, smooth shifts once again.

I did try to reset on my car, honestly I did not hear any "noise" of trammy reset at all but I do feel the shift gear more smooth than before the reset. I guess it does work !

Just wanted to agree that this worked for me too. Got rid of the delay from a dead stop and also is much better climbing steep grades. Prior to the reset, the tranny would rev high and I would tear up hills when I'd rather climb at a steady pace.
Sequence for me, i put the key in and the radio came on.
Pushed start (no foot on break) and engine symbol came on the dash.
Held accelerator to the floor for 30-45 seconds. Did not hear any noise.
Started it up, (engine light went off)
And drove away..nice and smooth.
Awesome tip!! Thanks so much for sharing!

mac3194...here is what I did and it worked for me:
Put the key in the ignition and the radio came on.
Pushed start (no foot on break) and engine symbol came on the dash. Some models seem to need to put start 2x before the engine light comes on.
Held accelerator to the floor for 30-45 seconds. Did not hear any noise.
Started it up, (engine light went off)
