i tried doing this several times and i didnt hear any noise at 25-30 seconds. i tried both holding down the accelerator all the way down pass the "click" and all the way down without the "click" and still nothing.

I tried the old accelerator trick on my M5 the other day (having tried it on my past 530xi with no real change), and with the M5, I noticed a big difference in how the car wanted to shift and idle.

It was being a bit sluggish this past week, probably because I've been driving so slow. It seemed like at low RPM's it was screaming, "FLOOR IT, BUDDY!"

So, after the "reset" the car was off to the races when I put it in 1st gear at a stop. It just lept off the start when I took my foot off the gas for the first time. The SMG shifts actually became a bit more clunky, but I just think it was from my not being used to the "reset" feel. So, my $0.02.

Don't worry too much about the 'click'. Whats important is how does it feel when you drive afterwards? Any difference?

Thank you to the OP and everyone else who has tried this out. My starts are a lot faster with no lag.
