I feel your pain. Glad you're OK. The driver that caused my crash last January was also 'distracted' and allegedly didn't see me in broad daylight but at least there was someone to pay. Hope all goes well with ins.

Thanks for all the heartfelt good wishes my way - certainly lifts my spirits some!

Yeah, I've gotta wait til Tuesday for a certified BMW collision repair center/dealership estimate.

And will definitely consider OEM M side skirts, and maybe the front bumper. The stock rear bumper seems fine - probably never go to quad exhaust anyway...

It just DEPRESSES me to drive my once beautiful car in this state of damage!

and it still angers me that the driver didn't stop to see if anyone in my car was hurt...

The first thing I thought of was the other car and its passengers as I turned around!

Guess I'll think of it this way - maybe there was some young family in a small subcompact car behind me that would've perished if I didn't take the hit in a two-ton sedan instead...

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Glad to hear that you're OK and to hear your good spirit about the whole scenario. She'll be back to new after 2-3 weeks at the BMW Certified shop. Ive had 2 instances not too long ago, I trusted the same type of shop and its totally unnoticeable.
Good luck with the repair and post the "after" pics!!

Karma came back and got the other driver.
Cops found a car down the street that same night with just drivers mirror damage. The elderly woman told the officer she mustve hit a pothole. Somehow they got her plates and filed some sort of report. Six days later I get a call, saying they matched up the reports, called her into the station and told her it's a freshly paved road, a pothole doesn't cause damage like that either. They gave her a ticket for crossing the median.

Guess I have no need to show up in court for her trial if her insurance company does the right thing and lets me fix this up at a BMW certified collision repair center.
I won't even bother with sending her my $20 copay for shoulder pain.

We'll see what the damage is n the estimate tomorrow morning.

You mean your front fender was unscathed. You're rear corner panel looks like shit! they'll be cutting and welding on this rear quarter for sure. as far as the doors you'll be getting new door skins only.....so choose a shop wisely because If they don't disco your battery they'll set off the airbag sensors (hopefully they can reset them if they do) and you might have to redo your door panels as shops rarely replace them correctly or tightly.. Sorry to hear this. Glad your ok. Good luck.

This happened on a dual lane (two lanes NB, two lanes S stretch of road in Northbrook, IL, about 40 minutes north of downtown depending on traffic...
I'm bringing this into a BMW Certified Collision Repair Center, to ensure they put this car back together the way it was. I'm hoping they just replace the rear quarter panel as it's pretty messed up. Waiting for the other driver's insurance company to give the all-clear to proceed with repairs - they haven't been able to get a hold of their client (surprise, surprise). Hopefully I'll know by tomorrow!

I thought it was hit and run. The other party was caught? lol....sorry but that's just funny. You try to run and get caught. "But it wasn't me!!" *bumper dragging under car* LOL.... they will replace your quarter panel but almost guaranteed if you're taking it to BMW Certified. Those place don't mess around, they're under specific guidelines on "how to" repair the vehicles. especially frames sections.
