Curb weight RS6 4060 lbs, with 4 big guys, 4860 lbs. Curb weight of my car (1/4 tank, lightweight wheels and tires), 3700lbs + me = 3860 lbs.
Now take drivetrain losses in an automatic of 20%, manual 15%. This gives Audi RS6 360 whp, BMW 545 276 whp. Calculate the lbs per hp for both cars.
Audi RS6 - 4860 / 360 = 13.5 lbs hp
BMW 545 - 3860 lbs / 275 = 14.0 lbs / hp
Close enough isn't it? Especially if he didn't get a kickdown from the slushbox.
You ought to get that cough checked out.

if you have ever driven one, you'd understand. but the new RS4 will most likely beat it with its V8 FSI 4.2l & 420HP, as well as its new all wheel drive system that is 60R/40F

Maybe it was just a S6, and not a RS6? ie no turbo.

Also, weight is less of a factor at speed. I don't know what the RS6 drag is compared to the 545. Also, he was in front, so I may have benefitted slightly from a draft.

well.... I don't think your wheels cut 100+ pounds off your car... the weight of the 545i listed at 3,814 pounds....
either way, he did have a lot more weight in the car..... you can roughly estimate 1 car legnth per person.....
I think the real issue that isn't being mentioned is that the RS6 is AWD, and while that is great for getting a jump off the line, it really kills the car when at speed... the AWD causes much larger drivetrain losses.... you'll always see better 1/4 mile times, and lower trap speeds with AWD cars....

Curb weight RS6 4060 lbs, with 4 big guys, 4860 lbs. Curb weight of my car (1/4 tank, lightweight wheels and tires), 3700lbs + me = 3860 lbs.
Now take drivetrain losses in an automatic of 20%, manual 15%. This gives Audi RS6 360 whp, BMW 545 276 whp. Calculate the lbs per hp for both cars.

Sorry about that F1 experience. I watched the whole thing on TV and it was awful. I can't believe it ended like this. A really bad move for F1 in the US.
On the positive side. I am a huge fan of Schumi, and that way he got 10 points in the championship that otherwise he probably would not have gotten.
