i am having no luck with my service manager, he says he doesn't know anything about a defect on the windshield and that he asked bmw germany about it and they said it was probably just the door seals (big BS) and he is not really willing to ride with me at high speeds, nor drive my car that fast.

So, im stuck, i just dont want them to fix the door seals, and then come back to have the windshield repaired.

any suggestions? is there a technical document i should show him? many thanks!

I was fortunate that I was in Rome. The senior tech at BMW Roma, drove the past 120mph, acknowledged the defect and fixed the problem. just have them reseal the winshield. Take him for drive. heck I hit 110 between exits with my tech sitting in the car to verify that windnoise was normal, here in Sothern California. Don't tell him. Once he is in the passenger seat there is sweet f@#ck all he can do but acknowledge the defect.

I don't remember hearing any noise, when I hit over 140 mph and many times at 120 mph. My car was built Feb 27, 2004.

I don't think this is parts defect. More like an assembly line snafoo that must have affected a few cars. Counting me there a 4 including me on this forum. And many E60 drivers don't go over 120mph or don't report it. MEX has the identical symptoms as me. And there is a link to video of the whistle in this thread.

cool. I feel better no need to explain to the dealer about the strange noise over 120 mph. The legal speed limit here is 65 mph

I'm not sure I could find a service advisor who would agree to ride in the passenger seat with me driving at 140 mi/hr in central Ohio.

Hey, I get the same annoying noise here. Friday I had it from the passenger seat and the rear, when I was driving through the mountains with my wife and her sister...
I wish BMW would fix this problem...

I can confirm whistling noise at 120 as well, I told my friend to expect it because I wasn't sure if my car had the issue. Very loud at 135. Probably won't get it fixed. I can see how this defect could be missed because of the way a robot installs the windshield at the factory. It was in the plant Virtual Tour.

As far as the passenger seat whine goes, duct tape?
