My Ride: Due in May 2005 - 535d sport, Silver Grey, Grey Dakota Leather, Maple Wood, Xenons, Adaptive Headlights, High Gloss Shadow Line, 6 CD Changer, M Rear Spoiler
Default

Have noticed that the HGSL on the front pasenger door is coming loose Its the strip along the bottom of the window and I would estimate its approx 3 - 5 ml higher at the B pillar end, and also sits proud of the trim on the rear door.

Going to call dealer to get it stuck down again, or whatever they have to do.

Has anyone else with HGSL suffered this problem?

Not noticed anything - I'll have a closer look.

Slightly off topic but on a recent holiday I hired a Ford Focus and noticed it had HGSL as standard. Fu*king annoying that BMW charge extra for it. And then it falls off!

No problem in any of my BMW's. Maybe it is a dealer retrofit?

Hi,
I just noticed that my right side back door has top alutrim getting off... that door is used second most after drivers door.
I opened trim a bit and found two pieces that were from the broken clips that holds the trim... see pictures... So one or two good slams might get them broken... have to go to the dealer have them replaced...

Second thing, the front passenger side the bottom side of interior trim is somewhat loose. The seal doesn't fit properly (arrow 2.) because trim tends to open a whole (arrow 1.) Don't know how to press this plastic trim more tight....

And finally I got the annoying door rattle (all doors) first time (8200km/ 7 months). It started day after I had the car waxed first time (ok dealer had it waxed when delivered but the car was brand new then) ... I think the rattle comes from the part where window's top part touch the frame (see picture: arrow 3.). If I lower the window 3-5mm the sound almost goes away.... so at that point I don't belive that it's the actual seals of the door causing this. But anyway the waxing had this think starting... Tried out some silicone gel but had hard time to get it into the hole...

All this in 3 days.... otherwise all well

Go Petri to Laakkonen Espoo, I assume, and have those seals replaced.
There has been quite a lot of discussion about this matter.

I had the same problem with my old '04 E60 and it just brakes ones nerves.

Here's the BMW NA bulletin:

SI B 51 02 05
Body Equipment June 2005
Technical Service

SUBJECT
Squeaking Noise from Door Frame Area While Driving

MODEL
E60 (5 Series) produced up to 01/2005

SITUATION
Some customers may complain that they hear squeaking noises coming from the doorframe area while driving.

CAUSE

The movement between the mating surface of the flock covered door seal (felt-like material indicated by the arrows) and the surrounding roof panel produces a squeaking noise.

CORRECTION
In case of a customer complaint, replace all 4 door seals with the improved door seals.

PROCEDURE
Flocking material of the door seal has been improved. Install these improved door seals on all 4 doors of the vehicle.

Improved door seals can be recognized by the words "EPDM+Polyesterflock" (1) and a yellow dot (2) located on the bottom of the seal.
Notes:

Do not use "Carbaflo" on improved door seals.

The yellow dot is only a temporary indication during stock transition. This yellow dot will not be applied in future production of door seals.
