It's a two minute job. There are about three little plastic "screws" that you can turn with a coin. Just turn them 90 degrees (in either direction) and pull them straight out. Once they're out, just lift the corner of the trunk mat and pull the panel out. It sort of hinges toward the center (inside) of the trunk.

Seriously, you could do it in a tuxedo in August and not break a sweat...

If someone has both a pre-LCI and an LCI car then they could swap the amp and see if it changes the sound. I dont have the LCI WDS to check if the wiring is the same but the ETK shows that the parts are definately different.

In fact on the pre-LCI cars there have been 3 changes to this part, one until 09/05, then until 03/06 and the last until 03/07.

So it would be good to identify what pre-LCI build are you comparing the LCI sound quality to. It could be the newer pre-LCIs are almost as bad the the LCI and so some people cannot tell the difference but earlier pre-LCI are quite a lot different that the LCI so people like Rudy can.
Did people miss my post? Also the WDS 11.0 shows no difference in the pre-LCI and LCI cars. So in theory the amps should be plug and play.

Mine was built in Nov 2004, a MY 2005 car and the difference is huge comparing it to a 2008 LCI L7. I sat in a later built Pre-LCI that was parked next to a LCI and there I can still tell a huge difference in sound quality... it was just as good as my Early 2005 L7.

Has anyone in the U.S. thought about replacing the logic 7 amp and speakers with the DIRAC amp and speakers (not necessarily put all 16 DIRAC speakers in just replace the 13 from the logic 7 to DIRAC equivalent ones)? I'm assuming it might be possible to get the parts because the M5 sold in the states can be ordered with the DIRAC system. I was thinking about doing this in my car after it arrives if the logic 7 ends up sounding bad as some people have mentioned.

I have a 2008 528i on order. I wasn't impressed by the Logic7, so I ordered it with the standard audio. My plan is to install Bavarian Soundwerk's 10" subwoofer system. Hopefully, BSW will come out with an upgrade kit for the speakers.

It may be my imagination, but I dont think so. I have just had CIP 27 programming done. I seem to have got the depth range and clarity back that was missing. Despite listening to and MP3 CD and I-Pod, I am happy again with the L7 sound.

Has anyone else experienced this??
