About 2-3 weeks ago I saw this message before I turn off the engine. It says ' engine oil is at minimum level blah blah... put 1 quart of engine oil

as soon as possible...' I actually don't remember what exactly it said because msg was gone for a while and it came up again today and but gone again.

I suppose this mean engine oil is leaking somewhere or what could it possibly mean? I don't understand how the engine oil is short and it wants me to add

1 quart of the engine oil. Is this a serious issue of the engine? Or is it just simply pouring more engine oil into it and this solves the issue?

If anyone has the same experience or is familiar with this issue please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

If you have warranty take it to the dealer and tell them. I had the same problem and they kept the car for three days to run compression test see if there is any leeks. All kinds of stuff. They ended up changing the oil then running a new program overnight. Went away, they had no idea why it did that. Oil was not low just the sensors going crazy.

Well.. my warranty just expired........

They kept the car for 3 days..? oh my God... no doubt they will charge me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I guess I have to take my car to the dealership to change engine oil first (my last engine oil was changed from some third party bodyshop)

and see what happens...

If you have warranty take it to dealer, if not just add a quart of oil. It is not unusual for these cars to need a quart of oil in between changes given the longer interval and given the fact that there is no dipstick and therefore people just guesstimate the right amount of oil to put in when changing the oil.

Can't tell from the small photo which car you have, but I'd check the dip stick (if it has one!) and top up the oil before driving... I have had sporadic low oil warnings on my 545 and my 550. The car does burn some oil but nothing that has been a major issue or raised a red flag at the dealer.

I just went outside and checked engine oil level by using the dipstick and found out it was at the exactly center of the guage on the dipstick..(1.5)

So.. that proved there's no leaking or lack of engine oil.....

Oh, BTW I have 530i 2005

Then there's nothing to worry about. Toss in another 1/2 quart Or just under 1/2 if u want to be safe. No need to be over reacting here.

If you add oil and it goes way you are good. Don't worry. Dealerships like to do crazy stuff if the car is still on warranty to make more money.
