Question

Anyone have problems with the "Transmission Failsafe" warning on their e60? Mine came on for the second time while driving down a large hill. It was just in the shop for an entire week and they said they could NOT find any codes or problems. I changed the rims to OEM 166 and I have a 2004 525 non-sport. ANY HELP or COMMENTS would be great.

Reading your problem of transmission fail safe I recommend you to have your car upgraded to the latest progman version.Already meet same problems with few customers and fixed by upgrading complete car. ( advice of BMW technician)

Thanks for the advice. I'll insist on that when I take my 5er to the dealership next week. Does BMW upgrade to the latest version upon the customers request?

Yes they should upgrade to the latest version 27.2.

They don't upgrade you just on request. They will only upgrade if there is a proven fault, fixed by a service bulletin contained in Progman (iDrive software) version later than you already have. If they haven't been able to duplicate the fault or see any error codes, and if you just go in "demanding" the latest version, they are likely to say no - unless you pay for it.

You should really kick up the complaining about that static on your radio, and let them know that your windows occassionally reverse by themselves. The lastest software revs apparently fix this. I've been upgraded twice to fix these probs.

You know now that i think about it my windows have been acting up I'll see if the failsafe happens again, then take her back in and insist they DO something about it. Codes or no codes.
