Hi everyone,

I have an intermittent headlight warning that flashes on the iDrive as well as the LCD in the instrument cluster. It only briefly flashes then clears itself - too quickly for me to read exactly what the warning says. When I check errors in iDrive it states all systems are OK and no errors are logged. However, the small green LED that is next to the headlight switch is now flashing whenever the lights are on automatic or manual modes. The owners manual says this LED flashes when there is a problem with the lights. Anyone have any ideas or any experience with this issue? Any recommendations are welcomed.

Thanks,

Yep, I guess I'll be making a visit to the dealer during lunch today. I'm sure I'll have to wait for an appointment
Thanks for the input.

Just stand with your car if they say it needs a software update. Ask first how long for a CAS unit in case it shuts down on them. :'(

Maybe one of your xenon lights is dead and this is the warning it shows?? But I would think it would be intermittend.

I've got an appointment scheduled for next Tuesday so I'll keep you updated about the problem with the headlights. Thanks for eveyone's input.

have you tried to turn off the car and restart it ? if not working, call before you head down to the dealer. at least they know what type of problem you have and will have a loaner ready for you .

Have them check the headlight brackets as well. Its a known problem. A lot of them are cracked. If you open the hood you can see them.

There was another post on that issue.

I already checked the headlight brackets, that was my first thought thanks to the wealth of information provided on this board . Both brackets are secure and no signs of any cracks. I've outlined the problems for the dealer so hopefully they will know what to expect when I bring the car in and they will have a BMW loaner available for me - that's why I had to wait until next week. I could have had an appointment tomorrow, but no loaners available this week. Not knowing how long it will take them to resolve this issue plus a couple other annoying rattles and squeeks , I decided to wait and get a loaner.
