Regarding the sound issue of the PDC displaying in the idrive but not making an noise, I learned that BMW has volume control for everything. Recently my PDC was coming up on idrive and not making any noise when i came close to something. I read the threads and i found out how to test out if your sensors are broken. pretty much i turned off the radio. Then turned up the volume nob on the radio and then stood in front of one sensor and with the windows rolled down and i could hear it beeping. Apparently i had turned down the volume for the "beeping" noise.

I know it doesnt help your issue with the water in the trunk issue but for those that cant hear the "beeping" noise maybe this will help
