Hey guys! When I turn my steering wheel fast to the right while the car is moving i hear a hard knock from the front left wheel area...it is like the wheel is hitting something... Any ideas what it could be? suspension? Tires look ok and steering otherwise feels normal... I hope it is something covered under the CPO warranty...

Car is a 2005 545i

sounds like a worn or loose suspension component. hard to pinpoint over the internet.

well i took it to the stealership and they just called me and said it was the subframe that needs to be replaced!! And it is covered by the CPO. I do not even want to know how much it would have been without the CPO warranty.

WTF?! how can the whole subframe fail? Do you think I will have any issues after it is replaced? will everything feel like factory again?

Thansks!

Well it is made of aluminum. Most likely it had a bad weld or stress crack. I holds the lower suspension, rack and engine. It bolts in so no big deal just could be a lot of labor.

I find it ridiculous that the sub-frame would fail on such a car... Right?

did the dealer say if there was any damage to it? could have been caused by bottoming out hard. or a bad casting?
