HELP: Heavy Shudder on accerlation none on deceleration!
Ok I've searched many threads and need some personal opinion before I pull my transmission.
2008 535xi 172XXX on the clock. At 120XXX had the torque converter rebuilt for shudder between 2000-2500 rpm.
Just balanced tires, replaced all pads and rotors and calipers. Suspension looks solid. Axles look solid. no play in any of suspension. I just finished fixing my steering angle sensor issue. Car sat for the winter months inside garage because of issue with shudder. Attacked a bunch of maintenance issues.
From 0mph-40 slight shudder sometimes no shudder on acceleration. 40-60mph HEAVY SHUDDER on acceleration non on deceleration. 60mph+ slight shudder on acceleration non on deceleration.
There are times when you don't feel it and its smooth but its rare and very intermittent. All roads lead to either torque converter or transmission or driveshaft. I want to rule out drive shaft because it happens ONLY on acceleration but I want people's opinion.
Thank you for your time. Stay safe.

I don't know about dropping the trans. What made you replace the converter? Theses transmissions are pretty solid and it takes a lot a ruin them.
If you have shuddering you must have codes. Have you tried to pull the codes? Have you tried changing the fluid and sealing sleeves? Have you checked fluid level? Was there a adaption reset done on the transmission? Are you sure it is the transmission and not the engine causing the shudder? I would start by checking the codes with INPA. That will tell you what's going on.

Converter needed to be rebuilt because a prior shuddering I had at 2000-2500 rpm. That was about 4-5 years ago. I recently flushed transmission about 1 year ago when I had to replace a rear main seal. No codes for transmission or engine I have an autel maxisys pro. Transmission shifts fine just the shuddering which is typical of a failing torque converter. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this similar issue. No adaptation reset done or needed.
