Same situation here. I went ahead and ordered the 528i with some goodies. 80% of my commute is between 40-55mph speed limit. 300hp is too much temptation to hit the pedal to the metal

Why not xi? well it gives me some reason to stay working from home when we get snow.

 

Who cares about snow when you drive around a city with little or no elevation. Try driving around the foothill of NJ or down High Point Mt. with rear wheel drive and snows - no go my friend.

 

I can guarantee you would go no where in north jersey in a snow storm with a good set up snow tires. Jersey ain't flat like Detroit and sure ain't sunny in January like Southern California.

 

sorry, didn't mean to be offensive. It sometimes seems like someone brained washed the general public into buying SUV's at one time, and now our roads are clogged with them, and we are more dependent on the Middle East for oil than ever. The average U.S. fuel economy has actually declined since the early 80's. I'm not sure why some people buy them. In Texas, many people don't need them - it seems they are considered a status symbol in some circles for unknown reasons. I've also seen them used as weapons on Houston freeways. However, they do serve their purposes in many situations, snow being one of them. However, if I lived in an area where snow was a rare event, then I would rather have a sporty sedan to drive most of the time, and rent a SUV when necessary. The E60 will definitely be more fun to drive.

 

Ok good for you. congrats on your xi but the original poster is from Charlottesville, VA not northern jersey on the foothills... and they asked... so i replied. You just dont like my reply not my fault.

 

No worries, I would much rather have an I instead of an XI - it's just a saftey factor for my family when we drive in inclement weather, If I was single, it wouldn't matter.
