Correction depends on how expensive your tool is and it has to be bidirectional. Any lower-end will not FA code a BMW. If you're trying to code it out it's best to buy used at a low price and program it to your VIN. It takes the same amount of time to do just have to spend $30 or less for the part. Now that I think of it I'm sure it's plug-and-play.

Another correction it does need to be factory coded.

What are they in the connector? The module is missing pins. Once you get a replacement problem is solved. It's an easy fix especially if the goal is to get everything working like you wanted to otherwise what's the point of doing anything if the car is driving with no issues.

The module is missing pins. I ordered a new used one. Is it plug and play or does it need to be coded

It needs the VIN programmed and be factory coded
