Hello Everyone,

Just returned from the dealer.

So, I had the extended maintenance warranty at $1700, which ran out back in June when the car was first sold, not in October when I bought it from the dealer with 1400 miles.

Thus, my '04 545i regular service was on my bill.

Then, my transmission has been slipping, especially in third gear at about 1800rpm. Generally, the transmission slips, shifts are rough, even in Manual mode. Add to that, lately I noticed oil leaks under my car.

The service manager came back with:

1. rec valve cover gasket leaking $1214
2. side cover gasket leaking $1149
3. transmission pan leaking $869
4. air bag battery from front of car to back of car has high resistance value, sets off airbag warning, needs replacement $1129
5. my front thrust rods are loose $774

Oh, and it's time to flush the brake oil $198.

My car only has 40,500 mi!

Have any of you had the same problem? I see the link for changing the gasket for the transmission oil pan, which I'll have to do now asap. But anything else in the list? I guess I can add more engine oil, but no low oil warnings so far. Of course, I can't wait with the transmission oil, so I'm off to boldly go where only a few have ventured before....

Many thanks for any insight.
Mike

yes, low miles, I don't drive much!

have anyone else had these issues, other than the transmission oil leak?

I'm definitely going to many more dealers.

still, what's up with this car??? no problems until literally this past July, after the extended maintenance plan expired. it's like the car knows.....

you're getting fleeced. i've had the transmission leak, gearbox sump replaced, on 2 e60's now but the sump itself ( by 'pan' i assume they mean the sump which is prone to cracking cause it's made from shite ) isn't expensive and under two hours will do the job. the other faults seem bizarre on a car with 40k. the airbag battery, c'mon?? $2363 for gaskets??????? sorry to seem ignant butwhat is a front thrust rod?

Wow! Someone at the dealership is going to be taking a week long vacation on your dime!
Like everyone says, go to another dealer and get a second opinion. Or find a nice indy shop. Try this site. http://www.bimmershops.com/
Good luck with repairs.
