No problems at all with the remap, it's the best thing you can do the car if you ask me - it transforms the car in to a beast!

Fuel consumption is unaffected and my insurance didnt change much either - I had mine remapped when the car had done about 10k miles, 60k miles later and there have been no issues.

Where about's are you in the UK? Sounds like you've had a pretty poor dealership experience - it may be worth trying another local dealer?

I am in Buckinghamshire, near Beaconsfield, and use Sytner High Wycombe. I could go in to a load if issues including 7 split Goodyears tyres which BMW said was not their problem and GY blamed on curbing. Gone back to bridgestone and no issues, but still had car probs (inc telling my wife today she'd have to wait all day - with baby - for them just to look at at, not even fix it, as they have no cars to lend). Anyway, remap sounds good, I assume it would knock 10% off the efficiency. Where did you have it done ? Also if the turbo hoses are damaged is this not as a result of the re-map (though it looks to have happened to mine at 38k miles). I was mostly worried about it voiding the warranty.

Doesn't sound like you've had much luck!

I had the remap done by DMS - they have been excellent, they have come up to Manchester countless times to reflash the ECU for free (I had it turned 'back to normal' by the garage a number of times).

In terms of efficiency, DMS actually say the car is more efficient once it?s mapped if you drive it sensibly, but that's difficult given the extra grunt! To give you an idea, I am averaging 29mpg which is made up or mostly in town driving.

As for whether the remap caused the hoses to fail, I am not sure?coincidently my brother in law has a golf tdi with 80k which is unmapped and he has recently had to replace his vac hoses too - my car is a 54 plate and has done close to 70k miles so I'm not sure that the remap shortened their life considerably...

54 wow, I have an 07 with 38k miles, very poor if any hose has gone. I am going to haggle for free 2 year extended warranty otherwise i'll change dealer - tricky though as other dealers didn't sell me the car

It was the hoses - they were all shot!

They've all been replaced now and DMS should be up next week to re-apply the remap!

Just wanted to Thank Jason H for his help in giving info on where and how to replace my vacuum pipes, I have had similar issues where I have no power until about 3K revs,

Replacing the vacuum cables seemed the cheapest and most logical place to start as the error messages pointed to the MAF, but unplugging has no effect....

Some of the pipes where very brittle and I was glad I replaced them, it improved the pick up a little but unfortunately for me its not improved the power situation.

Due to the poor weather and no garage to start getting under under the car, I've had to admit defeat and taken it to a specialist. They did a smoke test today and found a split in the Inter cooler to manifold intake pipe at the bottom that has been leaking boost.. parts on order so hopefully its going to be fixed tomorrow

Most car places should have some. You ideally need an internal diameter of 3.5mm and silicone (not rubber).

I used 3mm ID because it's more common and got it from here:

You can get it from Ebay too.

If you replace all the hoses for the turbo and keep the original colours you need:

220cm black
120cm blue
90cm red

But buy a bit extra in case you make a mistake.

To get to the end of one hose you need to take the intake manifold off....however if you don't mind a join you could just buy a plastic joiner cut the old hose back to a decent bit then you don't need to take the intake manifold off and the job is much, much simpler.
