Mine makes that little noise, in the rear. Like a little buzz, a slight whirr. Somebody said before it was the fuel pump pressurizing, in anticipation of starting. It uses the doors unlocking as a pretty good predictor of somebody trying to start it soon. Makes sense to me.

2005 545i 6-spd manual---->de-badged, CDV removal, Autosolutions short shift kit, resonator removal, premium package, PDC, xenon, almost full options, hardwire V1 install ....looking for mods...
2007 550i 6-spd----> Premium package, sport package, Logic7, heated everything, Rogue Engineering SSK, CDV removal, hardwire V1 install, aFe cold air intake, Custom Magnaflow exhaust....
I get that noise irregardless of whether I am driving a car with or without air suspension, auto, manual or smg tranny. I figured out that it must be normal for all cars to make that noise adn so shouldn't even be a concern. Specifically I heard these noise coming from a honda civic, X5 3.0, M3 smg and now 545....so.....shouldn't be a concern...

I noticed the sound of a motor whining when the side bolsters of the seat are releasing as you exit the vehicle
