Hi guys,
Few months old E60 cant seem to get the headrests off. Its a UK Msport LCI.
Now I believe they are like a newer comefort headrest, it has a button on the side to move it forwards and back.
I want to take headrests off to see if I can fit some TFT screens to them. I tool the back seat panel off and coundt see anything keeping the headrest in. Did notice a red wire going up one of the poles though ???
Any DIY for this version ?? They do not simply pull out or have a black bit showing on the seat like the pre LCI's.
Also anyone know how to take the headrest apart i.e. the 2 sections
Please help its doing my head in and have tried searchign google and this forum for ages
Thanks

If your car's build date is post 08/07, those headrests are active headrests. They are in some way linked to your SRS(airbag) system, as they are designed to "spring forward" in the event of certain rear end collisions. I saw an exploded picture of those headrests, and there seems to be alot of elaborate contraptions inside. Be careful taking those apart, or at least unplug your battery while doing so. But, FWIW, I do not know how to take them apart.
