Headlights Turn On in Broad Daylight?

Wow. That was a lot of reading but spot on.
I was going to reply that this morning my headlights were off as I was pulling out of the driveway and the sun was positioned in front of the car. I then noticed while I was driving down the freeway, my headlights decided to turn on for no apparent reason (once again). I immediately realized the difference. It has to do with the angle and also the position of the sun. I observed that the degree of sun's angle had cast a shadow from the roof onto the sensor and the headlights would in turn turn on. I then quickly surmised that such action was most likely by design (as aforementioned above).
