Angry Headlight wires has lost all insulation, 2008 E60

Was planning on replacing the H8 bulbs for my AEs to some brighter ones, found that these were a cheap solution:

MTEC 4350k H8

They were not as bright as i was hoping for as you can see below:

MTEC left & regular left, they didn't match the xenons at all, somewhat in the middle i would say

THEN i saw this:

That is horrible for a 08, only 4 years old and the wires have lost all insulation, and its not only the wires for the AEs, but all of them.

Car is still under certification, gonna deliver it and see what they say, ill keep you updated!

You're not the first! Let us know what the dealer has to say.

Ran into the same problem on my '04 just last month, doing exactly the same thing (installing AE bulbs).

I spoke to a couple of guys I know at my local dealer; there is no TSB or recall on these at the moment. If your car is still covered under CPO warranty, get this taken care of now. I'd remove those LED bulbs and put the stockers back in, you don't want your dealer to use them as an excuse to deny your CPO coverage.

I totally agree with Kyle, if the dealer sees ANYTHING that is not stock they will say it's the cause and wash their hands of the wiring issues!

I had the same problem. I used liquid electrical tape to coat the wires. It seems to be holding up.

Yea I'm gonna take the MTEC bulbs out and put in the old and broken one when I go
on 12.19.

I'll let you all know how it goes!
If it comes back with electrical tape I'm gonna be pissed!!

My is 08 and dealer refused to service it under CPO provision for the same problem.
Crap happens...often with BMW.

Did they try to fix it at least or just leave it?

Had this problem too on my 04. Just masked everything I didn't want to shoot and sprayed with 3M liquid electrical tape.

all of you with CPO cars should be screaming at BMW NA. guys like me with 8 year old cars are out of luck; the best we can hope for is an involuntary recall. one of the SAs up at my dealer told me theyre starting to see more and more melted taillight wiring, ala E46, and to not be surprised if we get a recall notice sometimes soon. this headlight wiring failure is nonsense. it should never, ever happen.
