AFAIK the whole red section of the rear lights are lit up when BFD is in action. As from previous posts most are disappointed that it doesn't used LEDs for the brake lights. Don't understand it, as the 3 series coupe use LEDs (in fact the rear lights are LEDs along with the indicators too), the 6 series use LEDs. Why not the E60???

Will keep you posted when I eventually get my car booked in for the software upgrade.

 

It's quite funny that BMW is still saying that the e60 has LED's...
Well, it's not a lie, because the third breaking light (the one in the upper middle of the rear window) is LED.
I would like to have the LED taillights too...

Thanks. Just checked the print out I had when I got my car.
Production week was 47-11-2003. First consigned was 19/11/2003. So I guess its week 3 November build too. Things are looking good for BFD then. Now have to convince dealer to have a software upgrade. I guess version 12 might do the trick? Any ideas what version you had to get BFD activated?

Yes guess that's BMW's get out clause for LEDs as its on the 3rd brake light. In that case all BMWs have them then

I don't like when I get answers from BMW like this one. Yes, there are LED's, but when you ask for tail lights you don't want to hear about the LED's in the brake light, right ?!
