There is a service procedure (see attachment below) that can adjust the HUD level. My understanding is that it can only be moved an inch or two but that might be enough.

Well, this certainly explains a lot.
I've driven some HUD-equipped BMWs at the Komen event, and the numbers are always clipped for me. I've spent many minutes searching for an adjustment I assumed have to be there. All GM cars with HUD have a switch for this.
And yet, BMW with an iDrive to provide dozens of adjustments for things I never thought needed adjusting, doesn't include this? Different height drivers are going to want the display at different heights. It should be keyed into the memory seat. That you need to go to the dealer for the adjustment is nuts.

Okay, I think I figured out why I thought the HUD might be adjustable via the iDrive controller...
The E70 (new X5) has that feature. Somehow I must've learned that and thought that the LCI E60 cars had it too.
At least we know that BMW is addressing the feature -- it just may not make it to the E60 but will likely be on the F10!
