I have just ordered a new facelifted 535d.

My options are: M Sport pack, full leather, heated seats, Comms package, lights package, electric side mirrors, rear electric blind, through loading, Spaeker system and tinted windows.

The question is: what about HUD? Is this worth ?900, or is it just a gadget that costs alot but doesn't get used?

Any views would be appreciated.

Congratulations... that's a nice spec.

Regarding the HUD...
I am planning on ordering that option using the following rationale to justify the cost
- it might help me avoid speeding tickets (having the current speed in line of sight at all times)
- offers some safety when using Nav as you keep your eyes on the road while always being fully aware of the next navigation prompt
- also handy to be able to see easily if cruise is on and what the set speed it (I used cruise a lot, again to help keep my speed under control)
- it looks so incredibly cool (although you are the only one who can see it)

GET IT!!! You'll regret it if you don't.

I've got it on my car and it is amazing how much you miss it when you drive other cars without it. Especially when using Sat-Nav. Even turning it off on my car feels weird, I miss it immediately!

Combined with the Sat-Nav it's fantastic. It gives you arrowed, turn by turn directions with a countdown of the distance remaining until that turn smack bang in your line of sight. I think it is so much safer than looking down to your left at the iDrive screen.

It provides your current speed and Cruise Control info too. Don't even hesitate, if you're spending that much on a motor, what's an extra ?900???

What colour exterior and interior did you go for?
Also, which speaker system (HiFi, Logic7 or Individual)

I had HUD and NAV on my 545, I skipped it on my 550 and went with NAV only and that was a mistake. NAV and HUD are a perfect combination, either one is impaired if you don't have the other. Get the HUD - it's excellent.
