My car has the sport automatic transmission w/ paddle shifters. Is it safe to rev it up to 6000+ rpm? When mine reaches 5500rpm I already shift up(when I am in a long stretch of road of course). Do you guys shift at the red line and have you revved it up to 6000+rpm?

You can rev all the way up, all modern cars have a fuel cut-off switch (usually just slightly higher than the redline) - it is specifically designed to save engines from experimentators, such as yourself just kiddin', man - I've got a stick shift and I've revved up my engine to the red line a couple of times. With the sport auto, you just throw it into manual mode and you might have to switch off the DSC by holding down the DSC button until your iDrive screen shows the "DSC OFF!" message - play around and see which setting allows for better shifts. Do report your findings, as well

I have a STEP tranny, although not new with paddle shifters. I drive it as a manual shifter most of the time. When running in autocross or on TOD I often hit rev limiter (maybe bounce several times) as it is better that way then to upshift to the next gear and then have to downshift right away for the next curve (318 curves in 11 miles on TOD). Done that for four years and 88k miles. Still going strong.

I also have a Step and use it as a manual whenever I am doing performance driving. My 550 is a LCI car and my Step shifts at the redline -- even in you are in "manual" mode. Accordingly, in my car you cannot hit the rev limiter. In my 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport, the auto trans in manual mode would hold the gear and bounce off the rev limiter without upshifting. No so in my 2009 550.

That should be fun. Note that Pa State Route 125 is about 32 miles long and has tons and tons of curves. I will be organizing a meet out there in late September or early October.

I can read them without scrolling but I am looking at them on a 22 inch widescreen monitor.

The only thing i can think of is the resolution settings of your monitor; V has a pretty wide image as part of his sig, it might this this that is causing the scroll for you. Looks ok to me though (1680 x 1050)

That's because his signature image is too wide.
