I took some garden rubbish to the dump in the boot of mine last week and as I lifted one of the bags out carefully a branch caught another bag and scratched the flat top part of the rear bumper.

Being at the relaxed stage I thought well thats life, sh*t happens!

still SUPER anal about it, but I'm only three weeks in. I actually pretended like I was looking for something in my car today in a tight parking spot to make sure some lady audi driver didn't ding my door b/c she was kinda close...yeah, she saw me and was REAL careful

I live in my car.. So I drink coffee in it and eat in it (I'm always in a trafficjam somehow)..

I also do a lot of business on the phone in the car so you will find papers with names and telephone numbers on the passenger seat and rearseats..

Once a week I get it all out and clean her up. I need this car to do my work so I live in it..

Me too - if I'm not behind my desk then I'm behind the wheel.
I made a mental note to change my ways when I got my E61 some 3 weeks ago.
Now I see that my big mug of coffee still comes with me in the morning and my work stuff is there because I guess it needs to be - the silver lining is that I don't yet have old crisps stuck between the seat runner and the transmission tunnel, or scotch egg crumbs in the gear lever gaiter - but then there's time...

Being anal retentive (I'm in therapy but at least I recognize the problem), my car still looks new after 6 months. I even had to clean it when I got it back from the BMW dealer after a recent software upgrade and Bluetooth install. They had also installed fingerprints on the dash and trim and black shoe scuffs on the door panels and near the gas pedal (no charge I maight add). In general, it's OK to breathe in the car but that's about it.

I freak if a bug so much as craps on my hood, but I have no qualms about gutting various pieces of the vehicle's electronics in the quest for perfect car audio.

My wife had a cup of coffee in my car as we drove it off the dealer's lot! I used to be super-anal about food in the car, but it lead to too many fights (my wife's X5 looks like she lives in it). So covered drinks are OK, but we generally don't eat in the car (though on long trips fruit is OK).

I also circle parking lots to find the better spots, and will do this for as long as I own the car. My '97 E39 went 5 years without a door ding, 3 years on my '02 E39, but with no door guards the '05 E60 looks especially vulnerable. Parking across 2 spaces is particularly obnoxious....you are just begging for a key scratch!
