Just bite the bullet, it's more than worth it,
switching from a run down A4 to a brand new E60 should not be a dillema

Bad news today. My new E60 has arrived today at the dealer - 5 weeks before I wanted it or when the dealer was supposed to get me it!!!

To get it now, I would have to pay the last month of my Audi lease and the first month of the E60 lease in April - my Audi should go back in may.

Is it worth ?400 to get it now????

Or should I let the dealer polish it for the next 5 weeks

How come its only taken 6 weeks, was it a factory order to your own spec?

I am desparate to get mine as I sold my last car about 4 weeks ago and I am having to borrow pool cars from work at the moment. (Having said that the 2002 325i I have got at the moment is great despite having done 100K Miles )

I dont think I will see mine until mid to late May which is about 10 weeks from order.

6 weeks is about right. My factory order 520d M-Sport was ordered on 14.02.2006 and was available for collection on 24.03.2006, 5 weeks & 3 days!

Contract was for May delivery - dealer has accepted he got it too early.
He has accepted he will keep it till may - now I know its here - I WANT IT NOW
Follow your contract. Take delivery when your contract says you take delivery, and start paying when your contract says you pay. Not before. The dealer should take responsibility for screwing up.

And make sure when you do take delivery in May, that there are no additional miles on the car!

Just have your salesman put the car in storeage for awhile. That's what my salesperson did.Don't forget to go check out the car and make sure it's everything you wanted.

You were lucky

My 520D M-sport was ordered 20.01.2006 - promised available for collection date at order 20.03.2006 delivered at dealer 29.03.2006 - available for collection at 31.03.2006. all still very much within reason.

Perhaps certain options cause longer lead times, any insights on this ??

The UK has traditionally been a very important market for BMW. Perhaps our allocation of production time (for RHD) is greater than some other countries. Perhaps I just fell lucky and they were running a batch of RHD cars. Mine has quite a few options, although nothing unusual.
