Hardware or Software-based TPMS for Canadian 2008 E60s?

Hi All,
Does anyone know if the Canadian 2008 E60s come with hardware or software-based TPMS? I came from an E92 and strangely enough the Canadian and American TPMS systems were different -- the Canadian-system was software based, whereas the American one was hardware based.
If it is hardware based, will I need a new TPMS valve if I were to switch my wheels, or can I re-use the stock ones?
